ASTM A240 316LN is based on ASTM A240 316 to reduce carbon content in order to improve the corrosion resistance of grain boundary of welded parts. N was added to solve the strength reduction caused by low carbon content. ASTM A240 316LN is the most easy to be cold-deformed and strengthened among stainless steels. Cold-deformed processing can improve the strength and hardness of ASTM A240 316LN steel, and retain enough plasticity and toughness. In addition, ASTM A240 316LN has good rust resistance under atmospheric conditions, but its corrosion resistance is poor in reducing medium and chemical medium such as acid, alkali and salt. Therefore, it is not recommended for use in corrosive and harsh environment.

ASTM A240 316LN is mainly used in manufacturing equipment components which could withstand higher loads in cold working condition, and reduce equipment weight and rust-free. In addition, ASTM A240 316LN is easy to be work hardening when it is impacted by external forces, which can absorb more impact energy and provide more reliable security for equipment and personnel.
