ASTM A240 301 is usually used for pressure vessels and for general applications including architectural, building, construction, and aesthetic applications.
Compare to ASTM A240 304,the steel of ASTM A240 301 has more Carbon content and lower Chromium and Nickel content. The equivalent material of ASTM A240 301 is 1Cr17Ni7 in Chinese standard.
Before cold process, there is no magnetism for ASTM A240 301, while after cold process, the tensile strength and hardness of ASTM A240 301 will become higher with magnetism. When specified by the purchaser, Charpy-V impact tests shall be performed in accordance with Supplementary Requirement S1. When specified by the purchaser, 1 % offset yield strength shall be measured and reported in accordance with Supplementary Requirement S3.
