SA572 Gr. 65 are intended for riveted or bolted construction of bridges, or for riveted, bolted, or welded construction in other applications. And the max sizes of A572 Grade 65 plates and bars is 1-1/4in(32mm), while the max sizes of SA572Gr.65 structural shape flanges or leg thickness is 2in(50mm).
For the chemical composition of A572Gr.65 in thickness ≤25mm, Carbon content is max. 0.26% and Manganese content is max. 1.35%, while each reduction of 0.01 percentage point below the specified carbon maximum, an increase of 0.06 percentage point manganese above the specified maximum is permitted, up to a maximum of 1.60 %.
For applications of SA572Gr.65, such as welded bridge construction,where notch toughness is important, notch toughness requirements are to be negotiated between the purchaser and the producer.
