SA572 Grade 50 plates has max. thickness 4in(100mm), and the bar of A572 Gr.50 has max. diameter 11in(275mm). And the different thickness of SA572 Grade 50 has different Silicon content. The plates thickness≤40mm, shapes with flanges or legs thickness ≤75mm, the Silicon content can be Max. 0.4%; while the plates thickness>40mm, shapes with flanges or legs thickness >75mm, the Silicon content has lower limitation also with range 0.15-0.4%. Usually the SA572 Gr.50 are instead by q345b considering their chemical component and chemical properties. For A572 Grade 50 [345] steel of thicknesses 3/4 inch[20mm] and less, the tensile strength shall be a minimum of70 ksi[485 MPa].
