ASTM A285M “Standard Specification for Pressure Vessel Plates, Carbon Steel, Low- and Intermediate-Tensile Strength” is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee A01 on Steel, Stainless Steel and Related Alloys and is the direct responsibility of Subcommittee A01.11 on Steel Plates for Boilers and Pressure Vessels. There are three grade in the standard ASTM A285M--Grade A, B, C etc. Katalor always keeps thousands of steel pressure vessel plates including A285 plates.

A285GR. A is one of grade in standard ASTM A285M “Standard Specification for Pressure Vessel Plates, Carbon Steel, Low- and Intermediate-Tensile Strength”. As to the Chemical composition, the different content is a main difference among three grade, while the carbon content of A285Gr. A is no more than 0.17%; as to the mechanical property, the difference among the three grade is tensile strength, while the tensile strength of ASTM A285 Gr. A is 310~540MPa (45~65 ksi).
For plates of A285 Grade A produced from coil and furnished without heat treatment or with stress relieving only, the additional requirements for plates ASTM A285 Grade A, including additional testing requirements and the reporting of additional test results, of Specification A20/A20M apply.
