A537 Grade 70 plates furnished shall conform to the requirements of the current edition of Specification A6/A6M, unless a conflict exists in which case this specification shall prevail. The A537 Gr. 70 product analysis shall conform to the requirements given in Table 1 subject to the product analysis tolerances in Specification A6/A6M. For each reduction of 0.01% point below the specified maximum for carbon, an increase of 0.06% points above the specified maximum for manganese(0.85~1.2%) is permitted up to a maximum of 1.60 % for SA537 Grade 70. Elongation need not be determined for floor plate SA537 Gr.70. For A537 Grade 70 plates wider than 24 in. [600 mm], the elongation requirement is reduced 2% points.
