Characteristics of GB/T 700 Q235A Steel
Chemical Composition Control
Sulfur (S) content ≤ 0.050%, phosphorus (P) content ≤ 0.045%: Compared to standard Q235 steel, Q235A imposes stricter limits on harmful elements like sulfur and phosphorus, reducing the risk of material brittleness and enhancing purity.
Carbon (C) content ≤ 0.22%: Classified as low-carbon steel, ensuring excellent plasticity and toughness.
Balanced Mechanical Properties
Yield strength ≥ 235 MPa, tensile strength 370–500 MPa: Moderate strength meets the load-bearing requirements of general structural components.
Elongation ≥ 26% (for thickness ≤ 16 mm): Exceptional plasticity facilitates easy processing and forming, such as bending and stamping.
Impact toughness: While low-temperature impact testing is not mandatory, internal quality controls often enhance toughness for non-extreme cold environments.
Outstanding Process Performance
Excellent weldability: Low sulfur and phosphorus content reduces susceptibility to welding cracks, making it suitable for manual arc welding, gas shielded welding, and other processes.
Superior hot and cold workability: Can be used directly in hot-rolled condition or processed into complex shapes via cold bending, stamping, etc.
Cost-Effectiveness
Mature smelting process and low cost: As a carbon structural steel, Q235A features a simple production process, readily available raw materials, and a lower price than alloy steels, making it ideal for large-scale applications.
