XAR400, XAR450, XAR500 series wear resistant steel proprieties

XAR400, XAR450, XAR500 series wear resistant steel is a high-tech materials, it will be uniform high hardness, good toughness, low alloy content and excellent machining performance perfectly set at a suit, make it become the ideal material for many applications.
XAR400 steel machining
XAR 300/400(W)/450/500 not only has excellent wear resistance, but also has excellent machining performance if heavy-duty processing machine tools and hard carbide tools are used. However, the cutting and feed speed should be adjusted according to the hardness of the material.

XAR400 steel heat treatment
The performance of XAR400 wear-resistant plate is obtained by austenitizing, quenching in a special device, and tempering if necessary. For XAR 400(W)/450/500, it can also be quenched directly after hot rolling. The specific heat treatment process is related to the chemical composition and the thickness of the steel plate. In order not to decrease the hardness, after heat treatment, avoid reheating XAR 400/450/500 to above 250° C, XAR600 above 300° C, and XAR 400W above 400° C. XAR 300 adopts 880-960℃ normalizing or normalizing rolling. For thinner steel plates and in some special cases, delayed cooling or tempering may be required.

XAR400 steel plate hot cutting

Use flame cutting method. For thinner steel plates, plasma or laser cutting can be used to reduce deformation. Flame cutting of steel plates below 30mm (XAR 400), 20mm (XAR 300/450) or 10mm (XAR 400W/500) thickness usually does not require preheating. However, if the temperature of the workpiece is lower than 5°C, or the cutting edge needs to be cold formed in the subsequent process, in order to prevent cold cracking, you should consider preheating to about 150°C. XAR 600 thicker than 10mm generally needs to be preheated at about 150°C.

XAR400, XAR450, XAR500 wear-resistant steel plate welding

With reference to general welding requirements, this steel plate can be welded manually and automatically. In order to prevent cold cracking of the weld, only low-hydrogen welding consumables should be used. With austenitic filler welding, preheating is usually not required. For ferrite filler welding, XAR400/450 may need to be preheated. XAR500 should be preheated according to the SEW 088 standard according to the plate thickness. The preheating temperature of welding depends on the thickness of the steel plate and the residual stress state of the welded structure. The operating temperature should not exceed 250°C. The wear resistance of the workpiece can be further improved by surfacing welding or metal spraying wear-resistant layer.
