SPA-H weathering steel has a protective corrosion layer and atmospheric corrosion resistance. It can be used to manufacture low-alloy structural steels such as automobiles, bridges, towers, and containers. Compared with ordinary carbon steel, SPA-H steel plate has good corrosion resistance in the atmosphere. Compared with stainless steel, there are only a small amount of alloying elements in weathering steel, such as phosphorus, copper, chromium, nickel, molybdenum, niobium, vanadium, titanium and the like. The total amount of alloying elements is only a few percent. SPA H weather resistant steel is less than 10% stainless steel and is inexpensive.
The molten iron requirement for smelting SPA-H weathering steel must be pretreated by hot metal desulfurization. The molten iron content of the molten iron before the converter is ≤0.010%, and the slag on the surface of the molten iron is cleaned. Nickel, copper or nickel-copper alloys are added to the converter along with the scrap. The carbon content of the converter smelting end point is ≤0.06% to prevent the steel from being peroxidized. The tapping temperature is controlled at 1 640 ~ 1 660 °C. Before the tapping, the synthetic slag is first added to the ladle for baking. The slag plug and the slag ball double slag method are used to block the slag tapping. The tapping process is carried out by adding silicon calcium strontium, aluminum manganese titanium, silicon manganese, ferrosilicon, medium carbon ferrochrome and phosphorus iron for deoxidation alloying. The SPA-H box board is commonly used in thicknesses of 1.5 mm box and 1.6 mm box. Generally, the SPA-H weathering steel coil is flattened into a flat plate.
The high weathering steel SPA-H is mainly used in container manufacturing, has good corrosion resistance and mechanical properties, and is an ideal material for the production of marine containers, and has a broad market prospect.
