API 2Y Gr60 material is a quenched and tempered steel plate for marine structures. It is used for welded structural parts of marine structures. The API 2Y Gr60 steel plates in key parts must resist impact, plastic fatigue loads and laminar tearing.
The API Spec 2Y standard includes two grades of high-strength steel plates, the thickness of the 50 grade is 150mm, and the thickness of the 60 grade is 100mm.

Heat treatment: quenching and tempering, cooling to below 538°C after rolling, and then heating to austenite structure between 815°C and 925°C, holding for enough time to make the temperature of the material uniform, quenching with a suitable liquid medium, and at 565°C Tempering in the temperature range of ~705℃. Due to the inherent characteristics of quenched and tempered steel, the steel plate produced according to this standard cannot be formed or post-welded heat treated at a temperature higher than the tempering temperature used in production, otherwise its strength and toughness will suffer irreversible and significant loss. If thermoforming is required, the tensile and notch toughness properties of the final part should be tested, and the results should meet the requirements of this code.
API 2Y Gr60 steel plate is a steel plate used for the structure of offshore platforms in the United States. For welded structural parts of marine structures, the steel plates in key parts must be resistant to impact, plastic fatigue loads and laminar tearing. These API 2Y Gr60 plates are mainly used for pipe joints, stiffened plate structures and other poor parts, where some parts of the steel plate must bear tensile loads in the thickness direction (Z direction).
