Classified by purpose, there are three types of industrial steel as follows.
Structural steel is used to engineering structures and machine parts. Engineering structural steel is also called engineering component steel, used to make large metal structures(such as bridges, ships, vehicles, boilers and pressure vessels), and can be divided into construction steel, bridge steel, ship steel and vehicles and pressure Container steel, etc. Steel for machine parts is used to make various machine parts. The steel used for machine parts mainly includes carburizing steel, quenched and tempered steel, spring steel and bearing steel, etc., are mainly made of high-quality carbon steel and alloy steel.
Tool steel is used to manufacture various processing and measuring tool, which can be divided into cutting tool steel, die steel and measuring tool steel according to the purpose.
Special performance steel is a steel grade with special physical and chemical properties. It can be divided into stainless steel, heat-resistant steel, wear-resistant steel, cold-resistant steel and electrical steel.
