The difference between 310S stainless steel and 304 stainless steel

In stainless steel, there are different stainless steel materials, but the surface of stainless steel looks the same, there is not much difference. The difference in material is mainly reflected in performance.

310S stainless steel and 304 stainless steel are both 300 series, but there are still big differences. The difference in chemical composition between the two is that the carbon content, silicon content, nickel and chromium content of 304 stainless steel are lower than that of 310S stainless steel, and the corrosion resistance and ductility of 304 stainless steel are better than 310S stainless steel.

The specific differences are as follows:
1. Chemical composition
310s stainless steel chemical composition: C: ≤0.15, Si: ≤1.0, Mn: ≤2.0, Cr: 16.0-18.0, Ni: 6.0-8.0, S: ≤0.03. 304 stainless steel chemical composition: C: ≤0.08, Si: ≤1.0, Mn: ≤2.0, Cr: 18.0~20.0, Ni: 8.0~10.5, S: ≤0.03.

2. Performance
The corrosion resistance and ductility of 304 stainless steel pipes are better than 310 stainless steel pipes; the hardness of 310 stainless steel pipes is higher, so its wear resistance and fatigue strength are better than 304 stainless steel pipes.

3. Application
310s stainless steel pipes are generally used for elastic purposes, such as making springs. The 304 stainless steel pipe has good corrosion resistance and is generally used in food, kitchen and bathroom, water treatment, etc.
