SS400 steel plate is a Japanese standard carbon structural steel plate, which implements the JIS G3101 standard. The tensile strength of SS400 steel plate reaches 400MPa. SS400 steel plate has a wide range of uses due to its moderate carbon content, good comprehensive properties, and good coordination of strength, plasticity and welding properties.
Chemical composition of SS400 steel plate
Carbon C: ≤0.17
Silicon Si: ≤0.50
Manganese Mn: ≤1.40
Sulfur S: ≤0.035
Phosphorus P: ≤0.035
SS400 carbon structural steel plate has no clear regulations on carbon and manganese. The carbon content of other SS models is 0.30%, and individual can be as high as 0.90%. It is mainly used in railways, bridges and construction projects.
SS400 steel is often rolled into wire rod or round steel, square steel, flat steel, angle steel, I-beam, channel steel, window frame steel and other shaped steel, medium and thick steel plates. SS400 steel is widely used in construction and engineering structures. SS400 steel is used to make steel bars or to build factory buildings, high-voltage transmission towers, bridges, vehicles, boilers, containers, ships, etc. SS400 steel is also widely used for mechanical parts that do not require very high performance.
