Similarities between JIS SPA-H Steel and EN S355J0WP Steel
JIS SPA-H steel is equivalent to EN 10025-5 S355J0WP grade. Both these grades are atmospheric corrosion resistance steel, corten steel or weathering steel.
SPA-H steel is Japanese steel material under JIS G3125 standard. JIS SPA-H hot rolled steel is used for superior atmospheric corrosion resistance steel plates, sheets, strips.
S355J0WP steel is a European steel grade under EN 10025-5 standard. It is a hot rolled structural steels with improved atmospheric corrosion resistance.
SPA-H Steel and S355J0WP Corten steel features
Corrosion resistance- this alloy consists of copper, nickel and high amount of phosphorus. These metals add some anti-corrosive properties. When these plates are exposed to the atmosphere, the copper combines with steel which forms a shielding layer which is easy to protect from corrosion.
Weather resistance- when the corten steel plate is exposed to the atmosphere they form a layer over its surface known as patina. The patina layer thus formed acts upon the atmospheric attack keeping the underlying surface intact.
Paint durability- these plates do not require to be painted.
Weldability- the corten steel plates are having good mechanical properties and can be easily welded.
