Q460F steel information introduction

Q460F steel is a high-strength low-alloy steel. Q460F steel is smelted by converter or electric furnace, and should be refined outside the furnace.

Q460F steel does not undergo plastic deformation until the stress strength of the steel reaches 460 MPa, that is, when the external force is released, the steel can only maintain the shape of the force and cannot return to the original shape. This strength is greater than that of ordinary steel.

On the basis of ensuring low carbon equivalent, Q460F steel appropriately increases the content of microalloying elements. Good welding performance requires low carbon equivalent of Q460F steel, and the increase of microalloying elements will increase the carbon equivalent of Q460F steel while increasing the strength of the steel. But fortunately, the increased carbon equivalent is very small, so it will not affect the welding performance of Q460F steel.

The delivery state of Q460F steel plate is thermomechanical controlled rolling (TMCP), TMCP+tempering or quenching+tempering (quenching and tempering). The specific delivery state shall be agreed by both parties and specified in the contract.
