The National Speed Skating Stadium, also known as the "Ice Ribbon", is located on the west side of the Beijing Olympic Forest Park. It is the only newly built ice competition venue for the Beijing Winter Olympics and is the competition venue for speed skating.
The National Speed Skating Gymnasium is currently the largest single-layer two-way orthogonal saddle-shaped cable net roof gymnasium in the world. During the construction process, 49 pairs of load-bearing cables and 30 pairs of stabilizing cables were weaved into a cable-mesh roof with a long span of 198 meters and a short span of 124 meters, and then 1080 4 square meters × 4 square meters unit roof panels were laid. The construction team of the speed skating hall calls this cable net the "sky curtain".
