In November 2019, U.S. steel imports fell 12.5% year on year

The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that the United States imported a total of 1.541 million tons of steel products in November 2019, down 29.9% year on year. Of which, 1311000 tons were finished steel materials, down 12.5% year on year.

In the first 11 months of 2019, the total imports of steel products and finished steel materials were 26.332 million tons and 19.755 million tons respectively, down 17.3% and 18.1% year on year respectively. It is estimated that the total import volume in 2019 will be 28.7 million tons and 21.5 million tons, down 14.8% and 16.5% year-on-year respectively.

In November, the market share of imported steel products in the United States was about 15%, compared with about 19% in the first 11 months of 2019.
