16Mo3 material is a chrome molybdenum based steel. Added chromium in the 16Mo3 steel increases its corrosion resistance whilst the higher molybdenum content promotes the increase in resistance to elevated temperatures. Therefore, chrome molybdenum steel 16Mo3 material has excellent heat resistance and corrosion resistant characteristics. That makes 16Mo3 material a popular in the manufacture of pressurized vessels and boilers.
Chrome molybdenum steel 16Mo3 material properties:
Grade | Tensile Strength(Mpa) | Yield Strength(Mpa) | Elongation in (%) | Max Thickness(mm) |
16Mo3 | 440-590 | 220-275 | 19 | 250 |
Chrome molybdenum steel 16Mo3 material also has good hot and cold forming properties and is normally delivered in 'as rolled' condition. Chrome molybdenum steel 16Mo3 material offers good welding properties when using conventional welding methods and due to the materials excellent heat resistance, 16Mo3 material is also used in pipework for transporting hot liquids.
