A588 Gr. C High-Strength Weathering Structural Steel

A588 Gr.C steel plate is a high-strength, weathering-resistant structural steel; its key performance specifications include C ≤ 0.15% and Mn ≤ 1.6%, with the inclusion of weathering elements such as Cu, Cr, and Ni.
 
For A588 Gr.C steel plate, particular attention must be paid to impact toughness (V-notch impact energy ≥ 27 J at -20°C), yield strength (355 MPa class), and atmospheric corrosion resistance (annual corrosion rate ≤ 0.15 mm).
 
A588 Gr.C steel plate possesses cold-forming capabilities; however, the bending radius must be at least 1.5 times the plate thickness.
 
Low-hydrogen electrodes (such as E7018) are recommended for welding, and preheating to a temperature of at least 100°C is required to prevent cracking caused by hardening in the heat-affected zone.
 
For A588 Gr.C steel plates with a thickness of 50 mm or greater, ultrasonic testing is required to ensure the absence of internal defects such as laps.
